HCDI Lead Indexer
Chapter 6. Inquiries that expose no individual
Source note
Source basis - S3, physical PDF page 8.
HCDI platform rule (Unit 3.6). Give each respondent only their real respondent role. A question set is created from an HCDI instrument and distributed, and a distributed set can no longer be edited. Never edit an HCDI instrument to fit the client. Below the minimum reporting threshold, results are withheld and withheld responses are not evidence. Respondents see "a short set of questions about working here", never a product name. Never insert or record an indicator's sample questions. They are Methodology Protected.
Red Flag. A client asks for the instrument to be reworded "to suit our culture". The instrument is HCDI's, and it is not edited.
Instruments are not presentation copy
Basis - general professional knowledge and editorial explanation. External references are identified explicitly; this section adds no HCDI rule.
Changing wording can alter meaning and comparability. An authorised instrument is different from a local announcement about it. Source rules prevent editing a distributed question set or adapting the HCDI instrument to a client. This book provides no protected questions, sample responses or reporting threshold.

Figure 3.6 Instruments are not presentation copy. Original conceptual illustration; arrows organise the discussion and do not establish a validated causal effect or a scoring procedure.
Original exercise L3 E06
Basis - original fictional exercise. The organisation, events and any numbers are invented for learning. No HCDI result is assigned.
A client asks for questions to be made more positive before leadership sees the results.
| Analytical task | Learner response required |
| Observation | Identify what the stated record directly establishes. |
| Inference | State the interpretation that still needs support. |
| Alternative | Identify a plausible alternative or missing context. |
| Authority | Identify the relevant credential or role boundary. |
Question - Can the Lead adapt the instrument?
Worked answer: Part G, exercise L3 E06.
