Unit 2.5 - Party and confidentiality of evidence
Learning outcome - Attribute evidence to the right party, and explain who can then see it.

HCDI platform rule (Unit 2.5).
Why it matters. Attribution decides who can read the evidence. A mistake either hides what a party should see, or shows a party what it should not.
The rules. On a two-party engagement each item carries a party: one of the transaction type's parties, or Joint. A party-side reader sees their own party's items and joint items only. An unattributed item is hidden from a party-side reader. Single-entity engagements have no party field. Client-entered text is shown as typed and never translated. Common Error. Marking a sensitive item Joint because it concerns both parties. Joint means both may see it.
Governance Boundary. If you cannot tell whose item it is, ask before attributing.
