HCDI Certified Indexer
Part A Orientation
Part A - Orientation
Basis: HCDI governance rule and HCDI platform rule (Edition 0.3, Level 2 document).
A1. Who this is for Practitioners at advisory firms who collect and review evidence on HCDI engagements, establish observable facts, and escalate evidence conflicts. On the platform this work is done by an engagement member, usually in the Reviewer role and sometimes as a Deal Lead
A2. What "Indexer" means A credential level, not a login role. A person can hold the credential and have no role on a given engagement
A3. Why the work matters An HCDI report is only as sound as the evidence under it. The Indexer's job is the part nobody sees: getting evidence in, recorded truthfully and traceable
A4. What the Indexer does not do Resolve an evidence conflict, adjust a score, close a gate or approve a corrective action. On the platform, the Internal Reviewer resolves evidence conflicts and approves corrective-action text, and there is no manual gate closure for anyone
A5. Authorization Granted by HCDI, per engagement. Being added to an engagement as a member is how the platform records that a person works on it
A6. Training, certification, authorization Three different things. See the Level 1 manual, Unit 1.1. No HCDI-delivered training is required to sit the examination (interim, subject to ratification)
A7. Entry route The scheme process, run on a system separate from the HCDI platform, with its own accounts: register and open an application; declare eligibility; pay, with payment confirmed by scheme staff; book a sitting; sit the examination, with an identity check by the proctor; results; award
A8. Assessment A knowledge examination and practical performance components, each judged against an examiner rubric. The performance components and their rubric are not yet set out. Study is self-paced, but the components are taken at assessment events the Scheme arranges [sitting windows set by the Scheme Committee]
A10. How to use this manual Self-paced. Read a unit, answer its self-check questions without your notes, and go on. Book when you judge you are ready. No one signs you off
A11. The shape of the manual
How to study
Read a chapter and distinguish its source-derived content from the general discussion. Attempt the fictional exercise before reading Part G. For a source case, state the facts before the judgement and identify the actor with authority. Complete the sandbox questions before consulting Part F. A wrong answer is useful when its explanation reveals a scope or evidence error. No study score is a scheme pass mark.
