Unit 2.4 - Recording how far evidence stands up
Learning outcome - Tag each evidence item with its status, and keep the engagement free of untagged items.

HCDI platform rule (Unit 2.4) and HCDI methodology fact (the five states, as amended 20 October 2026; classification to be confirmed).
Why it matters. The status is what lets a reader of the report see how strong each piece of evidence is.
The rules. A new item is untagged until a status is chosen, and the status can be changed later. An untagged item is never read as claimed. It blocks submission for review until it is tagged. Tagging is a professional statement. Never change a status to make a flag go away.
The five states. Verified, Corroborated, Claimed - uncorroborated, Missing and Contradicted, as defined in Chapter 4. Verified means supported by a document, alone or together with a second independent source. Corroborated means a second independent source and no document. The states are an ordering only and carry no weights. Common Error. Tagging by habit. Each tag is a statement you may be asked to defend.
Red Flag. Pressure to tag an item in a way that clears a blocker.
