HCDI Certified Indexer
Chapter 7. Respondent protection and anonymity
Source note
Source basis - S2, physical PDF page 9.
HCDI platform rule (Unit 2.7); general professional knowledge. A respondent must have given consent before an Adaptive Digital Inquiry session starts. Without it, no session starts. The Indexer chooses the indicator and the respondent, types each answer as the respondent gave it, and submits the session. Structured inquiry results below the minimum reporting threshold are withheld, and withheld responses are not evidence. Never ask for one person's answers. People answer candidly when they trust they will not be identified, and one request to single someone out can undo that trust for a whole workforce.
Red Flag. A manager at the assessed company asks what a named person said. The right answer is no, and the request is worth recording.
Identity can emerge from combinations
Basis - general professional knowledge and editorial explanation. External references are identified explicitly; this section adds no HCDI rule.
A nameless record may identify a person through role, shift and incident. Collection, access and reporting are distinct. Do not promise privacy beyond the authorised source. The pilot reporting threshold is unspecified; this book supplies neither a threshold nor protected inquiry questions or answers.

Figure 2.7 Identity can emerge from combinations. Original conceptual illustration; arrows organise the discussion and do not establish a validated causal effect or a scoring procedure.
Original exercise L2 E07
Basis - original fictional exercise. The organisation, events and any numbers are invented for learning. No HCDI result is assigned.
A regional manager asks for the unique job title associated with a withheld small-group result, saying a name is unnecessary.
| Analytical task | Learner response required |
| Observation | Identify what the stated record directly establishes. |
| Inference | State the interpretation that still needs support. |
| Alternative | Identify a plausible alternative or missing context. |
| Authority | Identify the relevant credential or role boundary. |
Question - Would the job title protect the respondent?
Worked answer: Part G, exercise L2 E07.
